What is the difference between fresh transfer and frozen transfer?

A lot of people hear these two terms and assume they’re just timing differences.

Fresh means immediate.
Frozen means later.

So it sounds like a scheduling choice.

But there’s a bit more to it.

In a fresh transfer, the embryo is placed into the uterus in the same cycle it was created.

Right after retrieval and fertilisation.

The body is still in that stimulated phase.

In a frozen transfer, the embryo is stored first.

Then transferred in a later cycle.

Usually when the body is in a more natural or controlled state.

Then which one is better?

It’s not always one over the other.

Each approach fits different situations.

Sometimes fresh transfer is suitable.

Sometimes the body needs time to settle before transfer.

So freezing creates that space.

This is why some people expect transfer immediately
but are advised to wait.

Not because something went wrong

but because timing can be adjusted.

So the difference isn’t just “now or later”

It’s about when the conditions are more suitable for transfer.
